OTHER ART NETWORK
13 August – 18 September 2018

…this exhibition is now closed …

Bringing together work from eleven artists based in and around both Kent and London for the first time, the show is an eclectic mix of contemporary artworks, comprising; photographs, painting, sculpture and bespoke installations designed specifically for the Other-Space.

Lateral thinking, a term made popular by the philosopher/inventor Edward de Bono, is solving problems through an indirect, creative and sometimes seemingly random approach. One which the OA.N has chosen to invoke in the artwork on display in the 2018 summer show LATERAL FUTURES.

LATERAL FUTURES would like to isolate the present condition of 2018 where the responsibilities of the now, with regards to addressing future crises, have never been clearer, however despite this we find ourselves paralysed and incapable of action. More broadly and in the spirit of Edward de Bono, the OA.N is making a provocation first in order to make sense of it afterwards. Act now and re-visit later.

Is it time to engage with the disconnect? Can the work of contemporary artists inhabit the gap in between the present and the messy barrage of alternate futures?
